PCAL Workshop 1: Meditative Motion - Frame By Frame

Class Description: Art+Design Labs is excited to offer these special new Pre-College ArtLab (PCAL) workshops designed for high school students. This class will be exploring straight forward animation. Students will explore this by starting off with a shape or illustration and then keep developing from only the previous frame. This will push students to explore the repetitive and meditative process that makes animation with a strong focus on the process of movement vs that of key framed narrative work. Great for all skill levels in animation.

Instructor: Tova Larson is an Animation Generalist, Illustrator, and Designer who graduated from KCAI with a B.F.A. in Animation. She creates short films that are both experimental and have moral stories within a fantasy setting that includes creatures and whimsical environments. She uses mixed media as her main medium with a focus on digital 2D and 3D. Her exploration of process has allowed her work to push past the traditional TV screen as a main setting for her animation to be viewed and create work in planetarium domes and projection settings.

Supplies: All supplies and materials are included in the class fee and will be provided during the workshop.

Parking: Parking is available in any of the (NON-RESERVED) KCAI parking lot spaces across campus. RESERVED spaces are available after 5pm on the weekdays and all day on the weekends. There is also available street parking surrounding KCAI campus. 

Refund: Registered participants can receive refunds to the original payment method (Studio Fee minus Humanitix Fee) up to 14 days before the first class.
